About Angela

Short Version

I write every day, even if it kills me. I try to publish everyday. Sometimes that does kill me. Yet, I keep sitting and typing. That is my practice.

Long Version

I am an American born Scot currently living in Savannah, GA. I spent the early years of my childhood growing up in Scotland and Malawi where I first explored my love of the entertainment industry by playing various acting roles in local theater productions, as well as doing art direction for a school production of Bugsy Malone.

During my teenage years in Malawi we lived without television, but it was during this time that my love for cinema grew as we took out as many videos as we could from the local video store.

From the age of 12 onwards, influenced by movies such as Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter’s Dead and Twin Peaks, I thought I wanted to become an actress. However, I spent most of my free time writing stories and dialogue in notebooks and this continued until I studied Media Arts at university. It was there that I began writing scripts although I had no understanding of screenplay format and my BA culminated in a short film I wrote, directed and starred in.

After university, I moved to Oman where I taught English for two years before moving to Savannah, GA to study an MFA film and television at the Savannah College of Art and Design. It was in Savannah that I finally learned how to properly format a script and discovered that this was my true passion – screenwriting. I graduated from SCAD with my short film Betserai, which I wrote and directed while living in New York City. The film won an Accolade, and the script won several awards and was nominated at film festivals across the USA.

While living in New York I also began writing articles about my childhood growing up as a Third Culture Kid for Among Worlds magazine. It was at this time that my writing portfolio began to expand outside of screenwriting.

After teaching English in New York for a few years as I completed my MFA,I decided to take a position back in Oman working as the English speaking Media Executive for the Oman Tourism College in Muscat. During my time at OTC I wrote articles about travel and tourism for a local Omani Newspaper supplement and began a year long blogging experiment called A Year Of Living Wisely exploring my newly found Buddhist practice. I also began writing articles about travel and tourism in Southern Africa for Safari Guide Africa.

In 2011, I decided the time was right to move back to the USA to continue my work as a screenwriter. Fortuitously, a month before I left for the USA, Reality CG, a media art-house in Oman and fellow SCAD alumni, got in contact with me about working for them as a writer.

Since moving back to the USA in 2011, I have written corporate scripts for Reality CG and also finished my year long blogging experiment. Currently, I am working on an e-book that compliments my blog while taking the ProSeries 38 class with Screenwriting U. My intention is to write several features in the next couple of years before moving to LA to work as a full-time screenwriter.

In the meantime, I’m still blogging. You can read my newly realized  blog ‘Every Day, Begin Again’ right on this site as I give tips and advice on starting over when you feel like giving up.

Thank you, Dear Lady, for that magnificent telling of truth in your Cowbird story. I know it must have taken great courage and clarity to write that, but I also know that you have been richly blessed by this whole process. You might find some comfort in one of my Cowbird Stories, which I believe is titled “The Clean Break.” (It was “Butterfly” but I think I changed the title. Anyway, the illustration is a beautiful blue butterfly, and I hope it brings you some hope and cheer if you read it. Thanks for joining my audience, and I look forward to following your work. Blessings, Alex Noble
